Marcus Pennell was first elected to the PERA Board of Trustees in 2003. He was elected as the Chairman in 2020 and previously served as the Vice Chairman. Mr. Pennell is a Physics Teacher and Department Chair at Ralston Valley High School in Jefferson County School District R-1.

Mr. Pennell holds a B.A. from Western Washington University and a M.A. from the University of Phoenix. He also attended the Pension Fund and Investment Management Executive Education Program at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.
